Why TaskTXT works 1m
✍️ Writing down tasks helps you organize your work into manageable chunks, key for focus.
⏱ Using a timer boosts your focus. Being "on the clock" helps you avoid distractions.
🪄 Guessing how long a task will take has a way of magically making it take that long. Without a goal, tasks might take forever.
📈 Comparing your guess to how long a task actually took helps you learn and improve.
✅ Checking off tasks feels good, and gives you a record of what you've accomplished.
📃 It's plain text. Nothing to get in your way. Back up or share notes by simply copy/pasting them. Things like drag and drop and undo just work.
⌨️ Supports advanced programmer text-editing features like Vim keybindings, multi-select and regex-based find and replace.
Learn to use TaskTXT 2m
TaskTXT is easy to use, but you need to know a few things:
• Put two blank lines between tasks, TaskTXT recognizes any line of text that comes after two blank lines as a new task.
• Write tasks as a description of what you need to do, optionally followed by a guess for how long it will take. Example: "Reply to emails 20m" or "Program my VCR 3h 15m".
• You can write anything you want below the task, use this space for any notes.
• When you start a timer, TaskTXT will write the current time after the task like, something like [12:30:01pm]. Just let that chill there, if you remove it, the timer will stop.
• When you stop the timer, TaskTXT writes a duration at the end of your task after a slash "Do something 3h / 24m". If you run the timer again, it will add to that number. Let it chill there.
